How to use the App on a Mac

Doubtless there will be an iOS version of the app in a few days anyway, but in the meantime you can always make use of phones that don’t exist.

So whilst there’s a portion of folk who’re loudly enjoying their “exclusive app” you can ofc entirely run android with virtual machines or emulators.  I chose Bluestacks which you can download for free from here: https://www.bluestacks.com/mac

This will then allow you to make an instanced virtual phone. I made some kind of Samsung running Android 13

That phone then runs happily on my Mac signing into the google play store using whatever bog standard Gmail account I want.

Then in your normal desktop browser navigate to the google play store and login with the same account. You can be super lazy like me and use the link from the Wyrd newsletter (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wyrd.m4e) and click install on other device. The app will then download in your virtual device.

And then it’s just there on your desktop, for me it will sit on my 2nd screen (best cheapest $50 dollareedoo monitor from Officewords such as it is) whilst Vassal happily runs on the other.

Job done. Whole process took about 3 minutes.
