Of Guild and 3rd edition.

There will be plenty of time to talk about the beta and I’m already contributing via blogs and battle reports over on the forums and I would encourage you to do the same.

But that’s not why we’re here. For nowsies it’s all about 3rd for at least 7 more rounds of play.  I have 1 more round of SOO against fellow Faux Worries blog contributor Dangerpants Lance.

I’ve played Guard in round 1 on stuff and went with Cavalier for round 2 on plant explosives and am returning to Guard again for round 3.

But what to explore for the rest of the edition?

I am perfectly happy on Guard & Witch Hunter so they will definitely be staying in my rotation.  If anything I pretty much exclusively play the first version of each and could probably do with reaching for Dashel2 more often.

Basse I’ve bought, am half way through assembling and that’s probably where he’ll stay. I don’t see a lot of point seeing as he’s defecting to blue shortly. On the shelf with you.

Marshal I’ve played a couple of games with and they’re ok, if the pool is appropriate. They might stay in the bag to say goodbye to burying folks. I’m encouraged by new Lady J in the beta but I do love stuffing people in coffins. 

Journalists just do not work for me in 3rd, far too many hoops to jump through to get their gimmick to work how you think it does and then only on stuff the ballots because of how the GG is worded. Night crawler is in Guard too, I can do that nonsense there if I want. See you in 4th Nellie.

Perdita and the Ortegas bullied the shit out of me in M2E (cheers Francois!) and I was looking forward to doing similar but I never quite got around to it. I really like how Billy and Andre pilot ‘Dita but I’m not sure I’ll have the chance to put the number of games in needed to do it justice and get to grips with it. I really do hope she keeps her summons.

Hoffman? Not his GG let’s be honest, see you in 4th buddy welcome back to Red full time.

Cavalier are good fun and have a heavy proliferation of AP that makes them super effective but this one is a question of having it painted in time for local tournaments. Which I probably won’t. Might need a little break from red coats soon.

And that just leaves Lucius and the Elite/Mimic. Lucius, specifically Lucy2, is my most played master of M3E.  Guild is my most played faction of the edition and he accounts for fully half of my games in red (the rest being pretty much Sonnia and a dash of Dashel) and I’ve just had to relearn him from scratch and now I’m going to have to relearn him again for 4th and I’m not sure I can be bothered until 4th tbh. Losing Cavatica, White eyes and Klaus is balls as well.  3 of my favourites. 

So that’s probably a rather narrow pool of Guard, Witch-Hunter and pocket Marshal and that’s probably ok? Not the schemyist bunch but it should be help me see out my remaining games in 3rd and help me with my goal of Best in Faction by edition end.
